PRESS RELEASE OF THE 3RD MEETING IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE
“AGRICULTURAL INFORMATION” PROJECT WITH CODE 2023-1-RS01-KA220-VET-000154237
SERRES – GREECE

The Laboratory Center of Serres participates as a corporate school and cooperates with schools from Serbia and Slovenia, within the framework of the implementation of the Erasmus+ program. The program is part of Action KA220, (Cooperation partnerships in the fields of VET and education), with project code: 2023-1-RS01- KA220-VET-000154237 and title: “AGROINFORMATIX”. During the period from September 24 to 25, 2024, at the premises of the 2nd EPAL Serres, a meeting was held in which experts from the Pozarevats schools of Serbia and the “Nona Marinkovic” school of Slovenia participated, as well as the pedagogical team for the development of applications and work of the E. K. Serron.
The meeting took place:
-Presentation of the part of the project that had been drawn up and assigned to each school unit in our previous meetings held in Serbia and Slovenia such as: data tables, databases, excel tables, which are useful to support the final application.
-Control of project compliance schedules.
-Analysis of data for the design and completion of the application, which will be a tool that will help farmers and breeders as well as students in this field, to monitor and plan their operations with the help of the digital application.
-Presentation of the website www.agroinformatix.com
The user can, in an easy and friendly way, be guided around the sites of the website and obtain the information he wants in the form of images, videos and text.
The theme of the program concerns the synergy of Informatics and Agriculture with the ultimate goal of developing a mobile phone application that will support farmers and breeders in Greece, Serbia and Slovenia.
A tour of the premises of the 2nd EPAL was conducted by the Director, Mr. Domouchtis Konstantinos.
Then followed a visit to the Tryfon Giantzidis farm, who with passion, love and joy presented us with the history of the water buffalo in Greece, as well as taking us on a tour of the local buffalo breeding and production areas. Afterwards, the participants experienced a unique trip to the Lake Kerkini Wetland,
which included a guided tour and bird watching during the boating, captained by Mr. Christos, in a traditional “plava”.
We sincerely thank Mr. Tryfonas for the interesting information and the warm hospitality. This was followed by a working lunch for the representatives of the schools, in the enchanting area of Ano Poroi Serres. Then, the participants returned to the city of Serres, where they were given a guided tour.
The next day we had the continuation of our meeting at the 2nd EPAL of Serres, where a meeting was held with the pedagogical team and the individual elements of the application on mobile phones were discussed.
Specifically:
-Presentation of the first version of the mobile application
-Determining timelines for the final version
-Development of the application for use in animal husbandry and agriculture
This was followed by a visit of two teachers from Serbia with the respective services of the Prefecture of Serres. Cooperation frameworks were defined, experiences, knowledge, ideas were exchanged and relations between Pozarevac and Serres were strengthened.
As part of the educational visits, we visited the facilities of Mr. Liaras Georgiou’s animal breeding unit in Pethelino, Serres. The participating teachers were informed about the use of robotic systems for:
The distribution of animal feed
-The milking of animals
-Feeding newborn calves
-Furthermore, the teachers were informed about the use of special mattresses in the animal bedding areas, for the best performance of dairy cows. Many thanks to Mr. Liara for the interesting information and warm hospitality.
Our next visit was to the facilities of the company “Fitoenergia S.A.” at the Paralimnio of Serres. The products of this company are the result of processing
energy seeds from rapeseed, soybean and sunflower crops. The main product produced is BIODIESEL. The company also markets crude and refined seed oils. During the processing of the seeds, the company produces excellent quality rape pie and sunflower pie, products rich in protein, trace elements and energy. These feeds are available either in bags or in bulk. We sincerely thank the production manager Mr. Michalis for the interesting information and the tour of the factory. This was followed by a working lunch and exchange of views in Mesokomi Serres. Afterwards, the participating educators visited the facilities of the only Serrai producer that grows grocery store peppers under the name: “Piperakia Bakalika
Atsalou”. The business started with 300 roots in a greenhouse, a number that in a year became 1,600 and today reached 14,000 roots, on an area of 5 hectares. The production of pepper grocers lasts from May to October. Concluding our visits, we went to the Museum of Contemporary Art “Konstantinos Xenakis Gallery”, a true jewel of our city and a point of reference, inside and outside our Prefecture. We greeted our guests in the traditional orthodox Christian way, which includes the ritual of kissing the cheek crossed three times, according to our church fathers. We thank everyone who contributed to the successful creation of this meeting and especially the Director of the Laboratory Center of Serres, Mr. Clonis Apostolos, for his valuable help in the implementation of the specific European Erasmus program.
